Terms of Service
By creating an account or using IOU, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What IOU is
IOU is a personal tool for keeping track of money you lend to or borrow from people you know — a private record for your own reference. It stores your records locally on your device; see the Privacy Policy for details.
Your account and your data
Your account lives only on the device where you created it. You're responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for the accuracy of what you enter — IOU has no way to verify amounts, dates, or who you say you lent money to. Use the export feature in Settings to keep your own backup; we cannot recover data that's lost if your device is lost, damaged, reset, or has the app uninstalled.
Acceptable use
Use IOU only for lawful, personal record-keeping. Don't try to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or misuse the app, or use it in a way that could harm others.
Not financial or legal advice
IOU is a record-keeping tool, not a lender, collector, or financial or legal adviser. It does not mediate disputes between you and anyone you've lent to or borrowed from, and nothing in the app should be treated as advice.
Advertising
IOU shows ads through Google AdMob to support development. See the Privacy Policy for what that involves.
No warranty
IOU is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of IOU, including lost or inaccurate records or disputes with people you've entered into the ledger.
Changes
We may update IOU or these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.
